Humboldt Forum Berlin: WISHING FOREST | WUNSCHWALD

The Humboldt Forum Art Competition. In 2018 I made a design for the Humboldt Forum in Berlin with my colleague, Wil van Blokland. The design was nominated as the best 18 of the 135 submissions. “WISHING FOREST”: five trees made of steel, hanging upside down from the ceiling of the third floor of the Humboldt Forum. Hanging from the crowns of the trees were thousands of handwritten wishes, from people who visited or live in Berlin, written on porcelain tablets. These wish trees are a symbol for positive thoughts, a counterpart to violence and terror in today’s world.
